Dr. Łukasz Galusek, who has been associated for many years with the International Cultural Centre in Kraków, will take up a new position at the Katowice museum, one of the largest in the region, as of July 2025.


Dr. Łukasz Galusek had been deputy director for program affairs of the ICC since 2018. He specializes in the culture, art and architecture of Central Europe. He is the author of more than 150 publications devoted to its heritage, especially the relationship between space, memory and identity, and issues of cultural education. He has co-authored and curated exhibitions introducing the art and heritage of Slovenia, Poland, Ukraine, Romania or Croatia.

Among other things, the new director of the Silesian Museum is a member of the Experts’ Board for International Policy by the President of the Republic of Poland, the Program Council of the Polish-Czech Forum at the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Working Group of Cultural Heritage Experts in the Visegrad Countries, the European Network of Museums of Urban History and Urban History Research Centers, and the Council of the Borussia Foundation.

At the ICC, he curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions, including "Adriatic epopee. Ivan Meštrović“ (2017), ”The Architecture of Independence in Central Europe“ (2018), ”Socmodernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War“ (2024-2025), ”One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor” (2025).
