We would like to invite you to a panel discussion on the work of Zbylut Grzywacz (1939-2004), which will take place on November 23 at 12:00 pm in the Hall under the Ravens at the International Cultural Center in Cracow.

The discussion with the participation of the artist's friends and researchers of his work will accompany the anniversary exhibition “Zbylut Grzywacz. Było nie było” - It can be viewed at the ICC from November 6 to 30.

The meeting will be attended by Anna Baranowa, Joanna Boniecka, Adam Brincken, Kinga Nowak, Patrycja Cembrzyńska, Paweł Taranczewski, Jacek Waltoś and Joanna Warchoł. They will be led by Justyna Nowicka.

On the 85th anniversary of the birth and 20th anniversary of the death of the Krakow artist, we will pose questions about the nature and significance of his work, as well as its relevance today. The introduction to the discussion will be a screening of two short films: an etude entitled “Professor”, directed by Maria Gacek, a student of Zbylut Grzywacz, a New York-based artist (2008), and “Zbylut's Worlds (2009) - work in progress”, directed by Joanna Helander and Bo Persson, who have also announced their presence. The filmmakers attempted to portray one of the members of the legendary Wprost group in the context of an outstanding generation of intellectuals, painters and poets who created in opposition to the communist regime. Excerpts from Zbylut Grzywacz's diaries are interpreted by Krzysztof Globisz, while music was composed by Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz.

The meeting is organized by the Association of Friends of Zbylut Grzywacz's Works, the Association of Art Historians Krakow Branch and the International Cultural Center in Krakow.
