Join us for a curator's tour with Karolina Wójcik, who will talk about Constantin Brâncuși's life and artistic journey, as well as contemporary “interpreters” of his work.

The Polish artists presented in the exhibition “Brâncuși. Sculpting with Light” bring the Romanian artist's ideas closer to the viewer through their own artistic experiments. As Karolina Wójcik points out, their statements are simple and unobtrusive, creatively complementing the works of the main protagonist of the exhibition. Bogusław Bachorczyk, Maciek Bernaś, Bartek Buczek, Michał Sroka, Justyna Stasiowska and Bogdan Achimescu focus on conveying the spirit of Brâncuși in their works, while maintaining the integrity of their own artistic statements. As a result, the exhibition combines contemporary and classical perspectives. They not only invite deeper reflection, but also keep Brâncuși's art alive and give it new contexts.

The exhibition “Brâncuși. Sculpting with Light” is an attempt to delve into the creative process of the Romanian artist, to understand how he perceived the world and matter, and how he used light and shadow to give form deeper meanings. How did he do it and what did he want to express in his art? You can find out this and much more during a curator's tour with Karolina Wójcik. Alongside Doïna Lemny, an eminent expert on Brâncuși's art, she is the co-curator of the exhibition on behalf of the ICC, as well as the head of the Exhibition Department and the author of the concept behind many of the exhibitions presented at the ICC.

The exhibition “Brâncuși. Sculpting with Light” is co-organized by the International Cultural Centre in Krakow and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.

The event is organised as part of the Romania–Poland Cultural Season 2024–2025.
