Dissonant Heritage and a Question of Memory

At the office of Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg in Greifswald there took place a Polish-German meeting titled “The Unwanted Heritage and the Problem of Memory”. The debate participants included Polish and German experts, specialists in the protection and management of cultural heritage, professionals working in the field of culture, identity, and international cooperation. The leading issues discussed included the questions of evaluation and interpretation of heritage, education on heritage, the problem of historical memory, the approaches to history and its reception in the two countries.

The meeting included a keynote lecture by the Director of the ICC, Professor Jacek Purchla, entitled “The Unwanted heritage – the Polish experience”.
