Join us for an author’s tour of the exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor”, which will be led by Marcin Wojdak, photographer and creator of the popular profile on Instagram @cosmoderna.

During a guided tour of the Romanian exhibition at the ICC, Marcin Wojdak will talk about the role of intuition in the reception of art, especially conceptual, abstract and avant-garde art. The presenter will, on the one hand, suggest reading the cultural codes of a country similar to us, such as Romania with its communist past.

Perhaps it will also become an excuse to create a mini-performance during the meeting – to come up with a common concept of activities similar to those presented at the exhibition and to enter, at least for a moment, into the skin of the artists. After all, as Marcin Wojdak emphasizes, everything can be art, what matters is the intention and concept.

Marcin Wojdak – photographer, traveler, author of the books “Ostatni turnus. Pocztówki z wczasów w PRL-u” (2022) and “Goodbye, Gierek” (2025). Creator of a popular profile about architecture on Instagram @cosmoderna. Author of short stories, for which he draws inspiration from his travels in the former Eastern Bloc countries. He combines the most interesting examples of architecture of the socialist era with the social context, and enriches his observations with language full of humor and absurdity.

The exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor” is co-organized by the International Cultural Centre in Krakow and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Event within the framework of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025

The Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025 is organized by the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the Romanian Institute of Culture, on the Romanian side, and by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Bucharest, on the Polish side.

The meeting will be held in Polish.
