The Cézanne effect. Bloomsbury Group and French painting at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries
Bloomsbury is not only one of the boroughs of London. This name also covers a group of artists, writers and intellectuals who opened English culture and art in the Victorian era to a new aesthetic and artistic fascination. A special role was played by Roger Fry, who, thanks to his close professional contacts with the French artistic bohemia, became an important link between the Bloomsbury community and the circle of post-impressionists active in France.
