We invite to the opening of the exhibition

On November 8 we kindly invite to the opening of the exhibition entitled Architecture of independence in Central Europe.

In 1918 Central Europe experienced a radical change of its administrative divisions and witnessed the creation of new national states. Territorial transformations, the appearance of the new political centres, ambitious social and infrastructural programmes – these are only some phenomena which stamped their imprint on the art and architecture of the region. Modernism, accompanied by the pursuit of the national style in Poland, Yugoslavia, Baltic states or Czechoslovakia had similar objectives in all these countries, yet in each of them it involved different languages and forms.

The exhibition shows problems which were common for many countries in Central Europe, at the same time, emphasising their uniqueness and local specifics.

The displayed objects comprise architectural models and designs, photographs and graphics, which reflect the rich mosaic of the artistic life of the region after 1918.

The opening will start at 6 p.m. (The Ravens Hall, Rynek Główny 25)
