On July 6, the ICC invites you to a holiday Accessible Sunday as part of the exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor”. This time we have prepared a tour of the Romanian exhibition in plain language and a unique city walk – with Galician stories in the background and with translation into Polish Sign Language. Let's discover Romanian art and the city of Krakow anew!

Accessible Sundays at the ICC foster integration and enable broad cultural participation for all visitors. Regardless of their needs and abilities, everyone has the chance to fully experience the exhibitions and events organized by our institution.

Schedule:

July 6, 2025

11.00 am – City walk “Galician Ring of Krakow” translated into PJM

In 1772, news of the first partition of Poland falls on the citizens of Krakow. Under the partition treaty signed by Catherine the Great, Frederick the Great and Maria Theresa, all of today's southern Poland and western Ukraine are annexed to the multinational Habsburg monarchy. During the walk we will tell you how the city changed under the rule of the partitioners, what happened to schools, universities and businesses, and what the cultural life of the former capital was like. We will move on the trail of Galician edifices, monuments and figures of that period.

  • The walk will be translated into Polish Sign Language,
  • meeting place: Market Square 25, “Pod Kruki” tenement house,
  • the event is free of charge,

13.00 pm – Guided tour of the exhibition “One eye laughs, the other cries. Art from Romania in the Collection of Ovidiu Şandor” in plain language.

The exhibition will feature a variety of artworks from Romania. Some of them are strange and surprising, some are abstract, and some are full of emotion and commitment. In them, the artists talked about the difficult times in which they lived. They looked for ways to speak the truth, but in such a way as not to be silenced. They did it in different ways: sometimes directly, sometimes with humor, and sometimes with symbols. The exhibition is a story about the history of Romania and the power of artists who were able to speak with their own voice despite limitations.

  • Guided tour in plain language,
  • free participation,
  • registration on Evenea website is required,
  • possibility to book by phone or text message: Daniel Krawczyk, availability coordinator, tel. 784 032 228.
