This time, we invite you to a story best experienced on the move! During a walk through Wesoła, the historic hospital district on Kopernika Street, we will talk about the past and future of one of the most dynamically changing places on Kraków’s cultural map.

12 June 2026, 11.00

A walk through Wesoła will be an opportunity to get to know one of Kraków’s most interesting urban complexes – the former university hospital complex, which for over a century served as a laboratory for modern medicine and architecture.

As we walk through the historic hospital district on Kopernika Street, we will examine buildings constructed from the late 19th century onwards and architecture designed with new standards of treatment, hygiene and spatial organisation in mind.

The walk will also allow us to view this place from a contemporary perspective. It will not only introduce the architecture of the historic clinics and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, designed by Franciszek Mączyński, but will also provide an opportunity to discuss new initiatives being developed in Wesoła. The event will show how the history of architecture and science intertwines here with visions of the city’s future.

The Mature Art sessions, led by art historian and long-standing ICC collaborator, Dr Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk, are aimed at an adult audience, with a particular focus on mature participants. The lectures analyse issues related to art history and culture in relation to themes that have also been presented in exhibitions at the ICC. This is an excellent opportunity for discussion and a deeper understanding of the works and their context.
