A lecture by prof. Maria Poprzęcka

Maria Poprzęcka – is an art historian and critic, and lectures at the Warsaw University. The main focus of her interest is 19th-century painting and contemporary art, especially their critical and theoretical context. Methodological and axiological problems are very important for her, especially those emerging from studies of contemporary art. From 1998 to 2011 she was the President of the Society of Art Historians. She is a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and Warsaw Scientific Society. She is the author of many publications, including the book Uczta bogiń. Kobiety, sztuka i życie [A feast of goddesses: women, art and life] (Agora, 2012).
