A celebrity vs an introvert

A celebrity vs an introvert
A lecture by Wojciech Szymański

Warhol is widely recognised as an artist and, simultaneously, a celebrity figure. He liked to have pictures taken of him with well-known public figures as well as having been asked for his autograph. On the other hand, he remained in a very close relationship with his mother who contributed to the process of creation of art works by means of signing them with her characteristic calligraphic handwriting – the fact that is not very well known. The lecture will focus on artistic presence and absence of selected works by Andy Warhol in New York City in the 1960s and 1970s. The artists will be presented as a star and celebrity closely related to pop-art as well as the great absentee of conceptualism.
