Screening of the documentary "Czechoslovak Architecture 58-89".

What is architecture? What meaning does it have for us? How do we recognise a timeless building? What should survive and what should be demolished? What are the criteria for this assessment?

 

These are just some of the questions posed to historians, architects and artists in the feature-length documentary ‘Czechoslovak Architecture 58-89’ by director Jan Zajíček and the originator of the project "Vladimir 518", musician and multimedia artist.

We invite you to the Polish premiere of the film on 18 January 2025 at 5 p.m. at the International Cultural Centre.

The screening will be followed by a meeting with the creators.

The authors of the documentary look at Czech and Slovak architecture of 1958-1989, which, although created under the communist regime, delighted the expert community in the West. communist regime, captivated the expert community in the West. W In Czechoslovakia itself, however, it was often underestimated and overlooked, and even today it sometimes thoughtlessly destroyed.


The screening will take place as part of the SOC DOK documentary film review.
