Debate: Socmodernism. Bane or awakening?

How do we perceive the architectural heritage of socmodernism today? Is it only a symbol of oppression and totalitarianism, or does it show something more than the technological possibilities of post-war reconstruction and accelerated industrialisation?


How many values and ideas, important to us today, can be found in this architecture and to what extent are they legible to us?

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the legacy of socmodernism has been assessed negatively - so today we need to take a fresh look at this current and revise the perspective of 30 years ago. This will make it possible to reflect on the possibilities of salvaging the legacy of the epoch and to offer an unbiased key to reading post-war Central European architecture.
