With the development of industrialization, port areas became an area of intense industrial activity. This has led to the degradation of these spaces and the difficult relationship between port cities and their waterfronts, both from a planning perspective and from the everyday experience of residents. When, as a result of the transformation of industry, trade and therefore the port, quays lost their original function, many port cities had a chance to reconnect them to the water.

In this process of rebuilding the interface between city and water, architecture plays a special role. The lecture will be devoted to selected examples of architectural and urban transformations of port areas. Centers such as Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bilbao and Gdynia will be discussed.

Free entrance. Venue: „The Ravens” Hall, Rynek Główny 25. Additionally, it was broadcast online via the Zoom platform. In order to receive a virtual invitation, please send your application to: sklepy@mck.krakow.pl
