The director of the International Cultural Centre, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, took part in a conference, organised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, entitled “European funds in culture. Summary and future perspectives”. It recapsulated how the funds were implemented in the cultural sector in 2012–2020 in the context of Polish experiences since our country entered the European Union.

As Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik observed: “During this period the way our sector – the cultural sector – has been perceived changed. At the beginning it was assumed that the development of cultural institutions, and of culture itself, should be an added value. However, it soon turned out that cultural institutions can perform very diverse functions. Not only do they provide access to culture and cultural heritage, but also help the society develop cultural competences which turn out to be an important element of economic competitiveness”.

The conference was inaugurated by prof. Piotr Gliński, Deputy Minister, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. It was also attended by dr Tomasz Makowski, the director of National Library, dr hab. Katarzyna Zalasińska, the director of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, dr hab. Łukasz Gaweł, the director of National Museum in Warsaw, dr Hubert Trammer, the participant of New European Bauhaus Round Table, collaborator of the National Institute for Architecture and Urban Planning, dr hab. Rafał Wiśniewski, the director of National Centre for Culture and dr Monika Smoleń-Bromska, the director of the Department of Funds and European Issues at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The recording of all the speeaches are available online, translated to the Polish Sign Language, at the Facebook profile of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
