Decades with Art: Andy Warhol and his Time Capsules

A cardboard box with old newspapers, letters, labels or photos bought at a flea market in it. This is a short description of the content of one of the many "time capsules" that Andy Warhol left behind. His project, Time Capsules (Time Capsules), which started after 1974 and lasted until 1987, is a unique collector's endeavor, the result of which is a collection of over 600 cardboard boxes tightly filled with scraps of everyday life and Warhol's artistic activities.

The next lecture from the Decades with Art series introduced the idea of ​​Andy Warhol's Time Capsules and present artistic practices that constitute an important context for this undertaking. The meeting also recalled the Andy Warhol - Contexts exhibition, shown at the Gallery of the International Cultural Center in Krakow from December 2012 to February 2013.

Leading:
Małgorzata Jędrzejczyk - art historian, curator. She studied art history at the Jagiellonian University, Universität Wien and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. A graduate of the interdisciplinary study program Environment - Technologies - Society (Jagiellonian University). Author of scientific articles on art and architecture of the 20th century and publications in exhibition catalogs and magazines. Co-editor of the anthology of texts image / body and the publication Komponowaniespace. Avant-garde sculptures. Co-author and curator of the artistic and scientific program Exercising Modernity (Pilecki-Institut Berlin). As part of her doctoral dissertation prepared at the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University, she conducts research on the concept of space in the work of Katarzyna Kobro.

The series of lectures on The Decade with Art is an original selection of topics that, updated, expanded and supplemented with a discussion of one - each time a different - of the past exhibitions will allow you to return to the rich and varied activities of the International Cultural Centre in recent years.
