The socio-economic potential of heritage is discussed more and more often, going beyond the basic associations related to tourism and city marketing. However, exploring the relationship between heritage and innovation is a new area of interest for the international research project ILUCIDARE.

Heritage-driven innovation is about implementing innovative ideas and methods that lead to positive change. Innovation can be "driven" by heritage, inspired by its specificity. Heritage can also assimilate innovative solutions developed in other sectors – which translates into the use of new technologies to improve access to historic buildings. Finally, heritage can be a resource that becomes the basis for generating new ideas, knowledge, new cross-sectoral cooperation and projects in various areas of life.

Webinar Cultural Heritage and Innovation Oxymoron? Discussion of the results of the international research project ILUCIDARE, organized by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, took place on June 28, 2021 at 2 p.m.
The new approach to heritage was discussed by researchers and practitioners of the relationship between innovation and cultural heritage: Dr. Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga, ILUCIDARE project coordinator for the International Cultural Centre, Maria Drabczyk – a member of the ILUCIDARE research team, and Lubomir Trojan, deputy director of the Cieszyn Castle regional design centre.
