V4 Heritage Academy 2018

Since 2009 the International Cultural Centre in Krakow, in cooperation with its Visegrad partners, has organised summer educational programme dedicated to the management of the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Sites in the region once a year.

This year the programme is planned to take place in Poland between 9th and 15th July. The one-week-long educational project will focus on the multicultural heritage of the Lower Silesia Region in Poland and especially on the Churches of Peace in Świdnica and Jawor, two outstanding timber lock constructions built during the second half of the 17th century as a result of the Thirty Years’ War. Both being memorial sites and representing unique types of constructions the Churches of Peace were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001.

The course will not only examine the way of their management and conservation but will also focus on the issues of migration and population exchange in Silesia in the post WWII years.
