1st anniversary of Russian aggression on Ukraine

A year has passed since open war began. On 24 February Russian army invaded Ukraine, trying to get inland, no longer concentrating on the territories where the fights started in 2014. The International Cultural Centre expresses its solidarity with Ukrainian society, and in particular with people working for the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage.

Soon after the outbreak of the war, the ICC together with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage prepared a project called „Thesaurus Poloniae for Ukraine”. Its aim is to help Ukrainian academics and cultural professionals. During the last year grants were awarded to 11 scholars researching the culture, history, and multicultural heritage of Central Europe. The project will be continued in 2023 (more about the project: Thesaurus Poloniae for Ukraine).

In Autumn 2022 the ICC opened also an exhibition of photographs by Justyna Mielnikiewicz. The artist documents the everyday life in Ukraine, affected by war, and the consequences of military operations. Her works concentrate on the human fate, presenting changes that the war brought about and actions taken to save the community.
