160th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising

On January 22, we celebrated the 160th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising in the Kingdom of Poland. It was the largest pro-independence uprising of the period of the partitions. Not only Poles, but also Belarusians, Lithuanians and Ukrainians took part in the armed struggle against the Russian Empire.

The programme of events celebrating this anniversary includes the opening of the exhibition “Love and Duty. January Uprising 1863” at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The event will be attended by the Director of the ICC, Agata Wąsowska Pawlik, as well as the Deputy Director for Programme Policy, Łukasz Galusek.
