The next edition of the “(Nie)codzienna” project: Piotr Jargusz “Obrazy uliczne”

We invite you to the next edition of the research and artistic project “(Nie)codzienna. Sztuka i kontekst”, under the patronage of the MCK. This time, Professor Piotr Jargusz will present a series of his works “Frasobliwi i klęczący. Obrazy uliczne 2025” will be presented by Professor Piotr Jargusz, introducing them into the space surrounding the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology.

As part of a two-year project initiated by the Institute of Painting and Art Education of the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow, under the patronage of the ICC, and curated by Dr Monika Rydiger, art will once again find its way into an unconventional space and context. This time, it will be presented in the surroundings of the Manggha Museum building. Paintings by Prof. Piotr Jargusz will appear on museum masts and advertising poles.

For 20 years, the artist has consistently pushed the boundaries of traditional painting, creating his works on grey wrapping paper, which he then sticks onto city advertising pillars. This time, he is also foregoing the exhibition hall, creating art that straddles the line between painting and performance. More important to him than the visual aspect of the work is the encounter with a random viewer, the situation evoked by the art and the subtle intervention in space. In the series “Frasobliwi i klęczący”, Prof. Jargusz goes beyond the religious iconographic scheme to show that a kneeling figure can be a universal sign of humility, reflection and a gesture of pause. The image of the pensive, on the other hand, brings to mind everyday, existential sadness and confusion, but also sensitivity to other people.

The presentation of the street paintings “Frasobliwi i klęczący” will be accompanied by walks, meetings and workshops with the artist, co-organised with the Manggha Museum.
