“Walk with us” is a series of city walks through Krakow's neighborhoods, organized in the spring and summer. The routes lead both along well-worn trails and through unknown corners of the city.

We invite all interested parties, children, adults, seniors, whole families with their pets to participate.

Practical information:

  • duration about 90 minutes,
  • cost of participation: PLN 10,
  • number of places limited, registration on Evenea website (coming soon!).
  • the walks are conducted in Polish.

Schedule:

June 28, 2025, 11.00 am – “Not at once modern Krakow was built”

During the walk we will move back in time to Krakow from the interwar period, when the city was undergoing significant changes after independence. We will see how the architecture developed and what solutions were used to make the city adapt to the new times. We will walk through the main streets of Krakow, which witnessed the dynamic development of public space. We will learn about the designs of key architects of the period, look at how buildings changed and discuss what these changes said about society and its needs. The tour will show us how Krakow evolved to become a modern city open to change.

Hosted by: Zofia Grząślewicz

Cost: PLN 10, reservations required on Evenea website

Meeting place: al. 3 Maja 1

July 5, 2025, 11 am – “After the ruins of the fire of 1850”

A walk dedicated to the development of Krakow after the crisis of the 19th century and the great fire that engulfed much of the center. Many of the buildings we see every day are only – in whole or in part – reconstructions: although the medieval walls of the Franciscan and Dominican basilicas have survived, their interiors are the result of 19th-century restoration.

Host: Joanna Majewska-Grabowska

Cost: PLN 10, reservations required on Evenea website

Meeting place: Market Square 17 (next to Kamienica Hetmańska)

July 26, 2025, 11.00 am – “The Art and Symbolism of Krakow's Kazimierz”

Kazimierz, the former Jewish quarter of Krakow, is one of the few places in the world that has preserved its unique urban layout, which is a living testimony of the former Jewish city. After World War II, despite the destruction, the district revived, becoming a center of culture, tourism and art. During the walk, we will wander through the streets of Kazimierz, discovering both recognizable landmarks and the history of the place. We will see how traditional Jewish architecture interacts with contemporary means of expression, such as murals and graffiti.

Leader: Marcin Krotla

Cost: PLN 10, reservations required on Evenea website

Meeting place: 24 Szeroka St. (on the square in front of the Old Synagogue)

August 2, 2025, 11.00 am – “Following the trail of the Vistula River's old riverbed”

Thanks to the presence of the Vistula River, Grzegórzki became the most important workers' center of Krakow. The primacy in this area was provided by numerous factories, a slaughterhouse and a housing estate designed for workers. The old Vistula was the northern arm of the river, which for about 200 years was its main current within Krakow. During the walk, we will talk about the change in the current of the Vistula, the history of Krakow's railroad, the flourishing of medical science, commerce and grand construction plans.

Leader: Beata Bujak-Szwaczka

Cost: PLN 10, reservations required on Evenea website

Meeting place: 9 Blich St. (near the railroad viaduct)
