They helped to create the unique identity of this city, even through science the crime of the Holocaust the heritage of Jewish Krakow is disinherited heritage, a heritage without inheritors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer mob20\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"entry_text wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_5f5658a646cec1f1f1c72aa2e0784f3a\">\n    \n    \n    <\/div>\n\n<div id=\"block_5f5658a646cec1f1f1c72aa2e0784f3a\">\n    \n    \n    <\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"entry_text wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition was inspired by photographs from private donors, former Cracovians now living in the United States or Israel. They spurred us on to seek further, and this brought fascinating results.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_1986f6a7bc21f79438b7f3a2f547afe1\">\n    \n    \n    <\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this point, the exhibition surprises many visitors who are unaware of how deeply Krak\u00f3w\u2019s Jewish community was rooted in Polish patriotism even before the First World War. We present photographs of Polish generals and senior officers of Jewish origin taking part in the construction of the Pi\u0142sudski Mound. Many of them were former members of the Polish Legions. We also show Jewish soldiers in Polish uniforms taking an oath before the Chief Rabbi of the Polish Army at Wawel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This image, often unexpected for many viewers, is of particular importance. It highlights the cultural homogeneity of contemporary Krak\u00f3w and allows us to understand how profoundly the Holocaust diminished this heritage.
