How did photography change the way we view the world? Why did artists of the interwar period reject traditional forms of representation and seek new means of expression? During the next lecture in the \u2018Decades with Art\u2019 series, devoted to Polish and German photographic experiments, we will explore the most fascinating developments in photography of the 1920s and 1930s and their influence on modern art.\u00a0

<\/strong>In the 1920s and 1930s, photography became one of the most important media of modernity. Artists associated with the Neues Sehen (lit. \u2018new vision\u2019) movement rejected traditional modes of representation, experimenting with perspective, light, photomontage and unexpected framing.\u00a0

Dr Ma\u0142gorzata J\u0119drzejczyk\u2019s lecture will revisit the exhibition \u2018More than Bauhaus. German photography between the wars and Polish parallels, highlighting the most fascinating developments in interwar German photography \u2013 cultivated, amongst other places, within the Bauhaus circle \u2013 and their influence on the artistic explorations of that period.

Dr. Ma\u0142gorzata J\u0119drzejczyk<\/strong> \u2013 art historian, curator. Studied art history at Jagiellonian University, Universit\u00e4t Wien and Humboldt-Universit\u00e4t zu Berlin. Graduate of the interdisciplinary study program Environment-Technology-Society (UJ). Author of scholarly articles on 20th century art and architecture and publications in exhibition catalogs and journals. Co-editor of an anthology of \u201cimage\/body texts\u201d and publication \u201cComposing Space. Sculptures of the avant-garde\u201d. Co-author and curator of the artistic and scientific program \u201cExercising Modernity\u201d (Pilecki-Institut Berlin). As part of her doctoral thesis being prepared at the Institute of Art History at the Jagiellonian University, she is conducting research on the concept of space in the work of Katarzyna Kobro.
