The theme will be examined in the context of the current global situation and the dynamic changes in the international order. Participants will explore the strategies adopted by states under such conditions. Using the metaphor of a magnet and a hammer, the conference organisers will contrast \u2018hard power\u2019 \u2013 the use of military force or sanctions \u2013 with \u2018soft power\u2019 \u2013 understood as values, culture or the power of persuasion \u2013 and will analyse their influence and significance in today\u2019s world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cDiplomacy in the world of power\u201d \u2013 key themes and questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the 17th edition of the Diplomatic Festival, the discussion will focus on questions such as how the concept of power is defined in diplomacy and what its different forms are, as well as how \u2018hard power\u2019 is used in contemporary international politics and whether it remains a significant instrument of diplomacy. Conference participants will also discuss the current effectiveness of \u2018soft power\u2019 in shaping international relations, as well as the challenges and limitations of these two strategies in international relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference will cover the history and theory of international relations, as well as military and non-military approaches to international politics and conflict resolution. Participants will also discuss various types of \u2018soft power\u2019 and their practical applications. They will refer to contemporary armed conflicts and disputes, as well as to the topic of international, regional and national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Participants from around the world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference will be attended by experts from around the world \u2013 representing academia, but also those actively engaged in international relations. Presentations will also be given by students, who will examine the topic of power from various perspectives. The event will also provide an opportunity for the exchange of experiences and networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference will be held in Polish and English.
