We present different perspectives and build bridges of empathy between societies and countries in our region of the continent, striving to strengthen its voice in the European forum. Our activities stem from our conviction that we need to get to know each other better and overcome stereotypes and prejudices.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_0f051d3625b69bd1a8e64d6b5f712f35\">\n    \n    <div class=\"height48\"><\/div>\n\n    \n    <div class=\"lg_img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mck.krakow.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/mapka_v2-1-799x600.jpg\" alt=\"\"\n            class=\"img_all\">\n            <\/div>\n    <div class=\"entry_img_text\">\n        <\/div>\n    <div class=\"height48\"><\/div>\n    \n\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We focus primarily on history, art history, architecture and the phenomenon of memory, preservation, and management of cultural heritage. We combine popularisation and scientific projects that bring the fascinating world of Central European culture closer to the public with the use of contemporary heritology tools. This process is co-created by an outstanding group of specialists gathered in and around the ICC who share our core values: openness, curiosity about the world and scientific rigour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over more than 30 years of existence, we have organised over <strong>100 exhibitions and 200 research projects <\/strong>at the ICC, and have also published over 5,000 bibliographic items. We participated in the systemic transformation in Poland and observed its impact on the cultural sector. Thanks to the ICC&#8217;s contribution to the international debate on the role of heritage and the contacts we have developed, we carry out a mission of public diplomacy to strengthen Poland&#8217;s position as an important member of the international community (UNESCO, Visegrad Group, Barcelona Process, Berlin Process) and a significant partner in cultural and intellectual cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are a national cultural institution founded and long-time directed by <strong>Prof. Jacek Purchla.<\/strong> Since 2018, the director of the ICC has been <strong>Agata W\u0105sowska-Pawlik. <\/strong>Our activities and projects are reviewed by a Programme Council comprising intellectuals and high-class specialists from Poland and Central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our headquarters are located in <strong>the historic Ravens House on Krakow&#8217;s Main Square. <\/strong>After a multi-stage reconstruction and modernisation carried out between 1998 and 2009, we have created a laboratory for modern thinking about heritage and a space for the public. The historic interiors, adapted to the needs of various groups of visitors, house a conference room for about 200 people, smaller seminar rooms, two galleries with exhibition space adapted to museum requirements, a modern library with a reading room, as well as offices and workspaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Cultural Centre in Krakow is an institution that specialises in issues related to the culture and heritage of Central Europe. We were established in 1991 on the initiative of Tadeusz Mazowiecki&#8217;s government, according to an experimental and original model developed by Professor Jacek Purchla.
