The Mega-Events in Heritage-Rich Cities virtual workshop
A-
A+

The workshop aimed at:

  • bringing together international experts to exchange knowledge and best practices in the field of mega-events and cultural heritage,
  • drafting a first version of a Charter for Mega-Events in Heritage-Rich Cities, thanks to juxtaposing HOMEE research findings with the knowledge of international stakeholders and experts.

The one-day workshop engaged around twenty-five experts from across Europe (representing also HOMEE associate partners) in a discussion on the issues of governance, planning, urban effects, and long-term legacy of a mega-event. The experts’ activities are subdivided into four working groups focusing on:

  • context of mega-events,
  • long-term vision and spatial planning,
  • governance, participation and local capacity building,
  • heritage, identity and local communities.
