Roman Catholic Churches and Monasteries in the Former Rus' Voivodeship. Part I, Vol. 4

Of the ten historical monuments discussed nine are located in the area of the Lviv archdiocese (Kulików, Podhajce, Biały Kamień, Nadwórna, Mikulińce, Monasterzyska, Gwoździec, Milatyn Nowy, Winniki), while the tenth, the church in Niżankowce lies within the former borders of the Przemyśl diocese.


Churches in Kulików and Niżankowce were built in the final phase of the Late Gothic period in the Rus. The temple in Podhajce illustrates the specificity of the existence of Gothic forms in the architecture of Royal Rus in the 18th century. The oldest parts of the churches in Biały Kamień and Nadwórna date back to that century. Most of the churches discussed are works from various periods of the 17th century, which played a vast role in the development of art in the eastern borderlands.
