The historical building catalogued in this volume are all located within the boundaries of two pre-war deaneries: the Kąkolnik Deanery and the Dolina Deanery. The buildings described come from various epochs and span a range of artistic merit, which is largely attributed to the fact that the history of each region within the investigated area took a different course.

This area covers powerful towns founded in the late Middle Ages or the early modern era (e.g. Rohatyn, Dolina, Kałusz) towns which appeared in consequence of the urbanisation of the Halicz region in the 15th and 16th centuries, and finally, piedmont settlements that emerged as late as in the 19th or early 20th century.
