Systems of Management of Cultural Heritage in the Visegrad Countries

The volume is a result of a meeting held in June 2010 which gathered experts from the Visegrad Countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia) who debated on the issues of preservation and management of cultural heritage.
Political and economic transformations in Central Europe did not only play an important role in changing our attitude towards cultural heritage, but resulted in a new approach towards heritage preservation as well. A ‘monument’, a thoroughly classical category, has been substituted by a much broader term, namely ‘heritage’. A change in cultural landscape brought by globalisation and transformation processes necessitated a modification in a system of preservation of cultural heritage. The experts share with the readers their opinions and conclusions concerning systemic solutions in the realm of heritage preservation – both the present and future.
The book is richly illustrated.
