Art and Heritage in Central Europe service, initially called “Art History Information in Central Europe”, was developed in 2004 as an idea of dr Zoltán Gyalókay, to provide information on exhibitions, publications, conferences, etc., in Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Since then almost 200 cultural institutions (such as museums, galleries, research institutes, publishing houses, or other focusing on heritage or cultural and artistic education) joined the AHICE network. Institutional partners of the project were Moravian Gallery in Brno, Art Research Centre of Slovak Academy of Sciences, and Prime Minister’s Office Deputy State Secretariat for Heritage Affairs in Hungary.

By the end of 2020 it has been decided that AHICE service shall be transformed into an independent database on art and heritage of Central Europe, run in English entirely by the main administrator of the project. AHICE constitutes a separate section in the new version of the service of Herito quarterly (http://www.herito.pl/en).
