The changes of nature photography

Monika Kozień and Paweł Wrona consider how nature photography has evolved over the past decades. A great deal of natural science knowledge is still needed, but the tools we have at our disposal in the 21st century are definitely more perfect.

The most interesting shots are those that show the intimacy of animals, in which the photographer captures the moment when they behave naturally, unaware of the presence of the intruder. Knowledge of their habits and preferences turns out to be invaluable here. The photographer must remain invisible and careful observation must precede taking the photo.

The advantage of today's photographers over their predecessors is that they have equipment that does not interfere with camouflage. They don't have to worry that the sound of the shutter will scare the animal away. They are also not limited by the length of the film roll. Photographic equipment has become more accessible and virtually anyone can photograph. Unfortunately, not everyone does it responsibly, as exemplified by the popular, artificially arranged funny pictures with animals”.
