The Heritage Academy for Ukraine is a training project that has been in development for several years and aims to support Ukrainian professionals from cultural institutions in the field of heritage conservation and comprehensive cultural heritage management. The project was born out of a dialogue that the International Cultural Centre has been conducting with representatives of the Ukrainian cultural sector, and the key impetus for its implementation came from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

Since 2023, the programme has been implemented in cooperation with the ‘Ancient Dvingorod’ Reserve - a city institution of the Lviv Regional Council. The Heritage Academy for Ukraine includes an intensive five-day series of seminars, workshops and study visits, during which participants have the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of lecturers and practitioners working with the International Cultural Centre. Experts, who are involved in cultural heritage preservation activities on a daily basis, share their skills in the field of conservation, management of memorial sites and implementation of protection standards for UNESCO World Heritage sites. Thanks to this formula, participants not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also learn practical methods of management and protection of cultural heritage by analysing real examples and solutions applied in Poland. The programme is based on the ICC's long-standing experience in organising postgraduate studies at the Heritage Academy and international educational courses at the V4 Heritage Academy.

The aim of the Heritage Academy for Ukraine is to strengthen the cultural dialogue between Poland and Ukraine by developing the competencies of participants and providing Ukrainian professionals with tools for more effective protection of cultural heritage. The programme was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the programme ‘Inspiring Culture’.
