The Romanian allure of the avant-garde – lecture by Erwin Kessler

The lecture will look critically at Romanian art in the first decades of the 20th centuries. It will focus on processes that veered the course of moderate modernisation of artistic practices and languages typical of the La belle époque aesthetics in the first years before World War II to a radical avant-garde after the war.

The latest exhibition at the ICC Gallery is an attempt to look at the Central European Avant-Garde art of the early twentieth century. We present on it over 170 unique paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures and films about the phenomenon of Avant-Garde in the region, especially experienced tragic history of World War I. If you have not yet been able to see our exhibition, we invite you to an open day. On this day for the exhibition and all events free admission.
