Seen through the eyes of a stranger, the exhibition Traces of People focuses on artistic dialogue between Cristiano Mascaro, a Brazilian photographer, and Sławomir Rumiak, a Polish multimedia artist.

During his three visits to Poland, Cristiano Mascaro concentrated on four cities: Gdańsk, Warsaw, Łódź, and Kraków. First, he documented places of work – old factories, in particular; he then investigated residential buildings and cities; finally, he ended up with an observation of the interiors of people’s homes.

Sławomir Rumiak focused on São Paulo, one of the world’s largest metropolises, established by people searching for work. In spite of the city’s population, which amounts to millions of people, nobody is really ever seen in the film. Relating the film with Cristiano Mascaro’s photographs, you will discover traces of human beings: their places, stories, dreams, and longings.

After being shown in Kraków, the exhibition will remain on display at Instituto Tomie Ohtake in São Paulo, as part of the presentation of Polish culture in Brazil in 2016, organised by Culture.pl.
