Vincenz. Dialogue – Carpathians – Central Europe

On November 23 and 24, 2018, a conference to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Vincenz, the author of the tetralogy "On the high mountain pasture" will be held in Krakow. The conference is to remind the timeless dimension of his work, its deep connection with the cultural landscape of the Carpathians and Central Europe and the humanistic idea of dialogue between cultures.

Stanisław Vincenz, an outstanding essayist, occupies a special place in Polish literature and plays a special role in building European identity. Raised on the borderland of regions, languages and cultural and historical groups, rooted in the Mediterranean tradition and open to dialogue, he became the voice of Central Europe and the pattern of writing of small homelands. His biography is a reflection of the turbulent fate of the region.

Organisers: Towarzystwo Karpackie, Stowarzyszenie Pisarzy Polskich Oddział Kraków, International Cultural Centre, Centralny Ośrodek Turystyki Górskiej PTTK and Ignatianum.
