Lecture held by Dr. hab. Joanna Czernichowska and Paweł Baranowski.

The work of Jan Henryk Rosen – the polychrome in the Armenian cathedral in Lviv – is one of the most important examples of Polish sacred painting of the interwar period, which has not yet been presented in greater detail. The uniqueness of the polychrome is evidenced by the form in which the artist combines elements of modernism and Byzantine art, and the iconographic program, thanks to which visitors learn about the uniqueness of the Armenian rite, which is more widely unknown in Poland. In addition to Rosen's work and the problems of its conservation, the exhibition presents the works that Franciszek Mączyński and Józef Mehoffer made for the cathedral.

Lecture in Polish, admission free.
