A lecture by Prof. Andrzej Pieńkos

The image of Czech symbolism is a composite of equal parts lyric representation and more unsettling, sinister themes. This lecture by Prof. Andrzej Pieńkos, a leading expert on symbolism, will delve into this latter aspect. As his point of departure Prof. Pieńkos will take an unassuming portrait of Otokar Březina by František Bílek. Březina was a prominent symbolist poet and thinker whose literary oeuvre was often a source of inspiration for his artist friends.
