Krakow – Zagreb

Krakow – Zagreb. The past and the future of the Central Eu-ropean metropolises

Seminar with the participation of Profs. Antoni Cetnarowicz, Jacek Purchla and Damir Agičic, as well as Magdalena Najbar Agičić and Maciej Czerwiński, the editors of the album Krakow for Zagrzeb.

A trigger of this meeting was a bilingual reprint of an album edited in 1881 by Krakow based artists and writers, the proceeds of which benefited the victims of an earthquake in Zagreb (the reprint is published by Srednja Europa). The historical ties between the two cities provoke a question about possible future parallels between them, at least in the context of Croatia’s approaching accession to the European Union.

The meeting will be accompanied by an exhibition at the ICC illustrating the ties between Zagreb and Krakow in the 19th century.
