Edita Gruberova is a world-class Slovakian singer, who started her international career on the Vienna State Opera’s stage in 1970. Since then, she is met with enthusiastic ovations and applause by the audiences around the world. She has sung in the most prestigious musical theatres and concert halls worldwide, from Milan to New York. On the 20th of September she will visit Krakow to perform in one of the concerts of the ICE Classic series, accompanied by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, conducted by Peter Valentovic.
“Edita Gruberova’s voice is known for its strength and purity of its tone”, said Izabela Helbin, Krakow Festival Office director, operator of the ICE Krakow. “The ICE Classic concert in September will be an outstanding journey through the most famous roles of this exceptional artist. We are going to hear arias from Bellini’s Norma or Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti. It is a concert that no fan of opera music should miss.
During the third instalment of the ICE Classic series we will have a unique opportunity to listen to the greatest opera pieces ever created. The evening will open with the overture to Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Then the audience gathered in the ICE Kraków concert hall will experience the beauty of „O luce di quest’anima” from Linda di Chamounix, “Il dolce suono” from Lucia di Lammermoorand of course the finale of the first act of Roberto Devereux, the performance of which is a piece that thoroughly demonstrates the mastery of the singer. In this part of the concert, the orchestra will play the overtures from Don Pasquale and the aforementionedRoberto Devereux.
In the second part of the concert we are going to listen to the overture and the famous aria from Norma, instrumental meditation from Messenet’s Thaïs, an opera which was never performed in Poland before, and the “mad scene” from I Puritani, where Edita Gruberova will be able to present the full range of her vocal mastery.
Another ICE Classic concert will be a great treat for lovers of great music. The guests of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre will have an opportunity to spend an evening listening to the greatest pieces of opera music, performed by a true opera diva, Edita Gruberova.
