In Milan, on 6-7 November 2018, there took place a meeting that launched a three-year-long international research project HOMEE (Heritage Opportunities/Threats Within Mega-Events in Europe: Changing Environments, New Challenges and Possible Solutions for Preservation in Mega-Events Embedded in Heritage-Rich European Cities), whose goal is to create better understanding of the relationship between mega-events and cultural heritage protection policy and of the impact of mega-events on heritage-rich European cities (historic cities).

The international consortium includes the Polytechnic University of Milan (coordinator), University of Hull, and Neapolis University of Paphos. The Polish research partner in this project is the International Cultural Centre, represented at the meeting by Professor Jacek Purchla and Dr. Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga.

At the meeting in Milan, project partners discussed details of project methodology, its timetable, as well as budget. A decision was made that in September 2019 the ICC will host project partners during the 5th Heritage Forum of Central Europe. At the Forum, partners will present preliminary findings of their case studies (the ICC will analyse Wrocław European Capital of Culture 2016).
