Institutions and organisations preparing large, international cultural projects that fulfill the aims of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 are invited to familiarise themselves with the newly published call for proposals within the framework of the Creative Europe Programme. It is an invitation to cultural actors across the EU to get involved in the Year's activities to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European space and to promote cultural heritage as a source of inspiration for contemporary artistic creation. The EU grant requested cannot be more than EUR 200 000, representing maximum 60% of the total eligible costs; furthermore, the projects shall involve a project leader and at least two other partners having their legal seat in at least three different countries taking part in the Creative Europe.

In relation to the call , Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics stated: "Today, we are taking another step to making the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 a reality (…) We are looking for projects that will highlight the European dimension of our rich cultural heritage in all its forms. As President Juncker said in his State of the Union Address, we must celebrate cultural diversity in 2018."
